Five Pages a Day: A Writer's Journey by Peg Kehret
by EmmaI have always wanted to write books. This book is very helpful for anyone who wants to write. It tells all about this writer's life and explains how she became a writer. Peg Kehret's first writing experience happened when she was about 10 years old. She created a newspaper about the dogs in the neighborhood. From that experience, she learned not to make her writing boring. Later she had polio. All her experiences as a child helped her to make what happens in her books more realistic. She never really decided that she wanted to be an author, but she always liked writing. In High School she wrote for a couple newspapers, including the Daily Herald. She began competing in a lot of writing contests, many of which she won. Soon she became a full time writer. Peg loved animals, so almost every character in her books had a pet or saved an animal. Her tips for young authors are to write a lot and read a lot. She has an ideas box, where she writes down ideas she gets and other pits of fascinating information. This was a helpful and good read. I decided to read her books after reading this book. They proved to be good.
