Isabelle Bonnard is a poor lacemaker living in France. Her grandmaman sends her to the palace to deliver lace. Isabelle is suprised by the enormous palace and she is even more flabbergasted when Queen Marie Antionette invites her to be princess Therese's playmate. Every day Isabelle goes to the palace to spend the day with Therese and her friend Ernestine. Isabelle enjoyes her time in the most fashionable court in the world. But problems are arrising. All over france people are on the brink of starving, including Isabelle's family , who cannot make enough lace in her absense. there is talk of revolution. Can Osabelle and the princess remain friends? This was a good bittersweet novel
