The White Mountains by John Christopher
For millions of years, the Tripods (show on the cover picture) have ruled the humans. At the age of 13, you are taken to capping ceremony where the tripods throw you into the air, catch you, and the feasting begins. After awhile, you are released with the cap's scar on your head, and NO more freedom! Will and his friends are determined to escape this awful fate as well as exterminate the Tripods. They go on a dangerous quest, meeting new people and places, until they reach the white mountains - a place where many are working together to stop the three legged beasts.

I'm in the middle of Inkheart and its really suspenseful!
ReplyDeleteDragon Slippers was really fun - an exciting story with interesting dragons and magic! Looking forward to meeting the author and reading the next in the series. I liked Creel and her determination.
The Bronze pen was a quick read with an plot idea that brings up great possibilities
I liked the Secret school, giving me a different perspective on that time period. The main character had a lot of courage.
I reread the White Mountains since I couldnt' remember the story from 10 years earlier. Its one of the few science fiction I've read and I liked it - really makes you think about your freedoms and possibilities.
fun reading!
