This is a meaningful, exciting, and true book. Esperanza, the daughter of a rich Mexican, lives like a princess in a fancy house with Mama, Papa, Abuelita, and of course the servants. But one day a disaster occurs and Esperanza's mean uncles are after them. They go to California with some friends. Soon Esperanza is living in the great depression and the Dust bowl. Will Esperanza learn to rise from the challenges and become happy? I loved reading this great book. I have read it twice.
