Miri, named for the small mountain flower, lives on mount Eskel. Every day Quary workers carve linder from the mountain. The mountain people are not special to the lowlanders, but the mountain is a home like no other to Miri. Then, one day, a surprising thing happens. The chief delegate from Danland comes to announce that Mount Eskel is the province chosen by the priests to be home of where Prince Stephan's bride would be from. But, are the mountain girls ready to be princesses? Of course not! Tutor Olana comes up the mountain and teaches their princess academy and teaches their Princess Academy. It is hard work and there is competition. Miri learns more about her people, discovers truths and learns a great secret that could save the people of Mount Eskel. I really liked this book.
