Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Jessie lives in pioneer town Cliffton, or does she? Jessie's Ma is the only Doctor in Cliffton. Ever since the doctor stopped giving out his pills, Ma has to go every night because there are so many sick children. They all have diptheria. One night, ma tells Jessie a secret. Cliffton is in danger - its NOT 1840, its 1990! Cliffton is only a tourist sight where people watch through hidden cameras. Jessie is afraid and Ma tells Jessie the only thing to do to save the sick children would be to go outside Cliffton and get help. Soon Jessie is stepping into the future, having an amazing adventure and saving Cliffton. I like this book because it is really interesting and made me think and very suspenseful.
